About this template

This portfolio is built for designers whose strongest work needs more explanation than a gallery card can provide. It pairs a concise project index with substantial case-study pages, giving each project room for the problem, research, decisions, wireframes, interface changes, and outcomes. The structure suits independent UX and product designers, researchers moving into design, and job seekers who want hiring managers to understand how they think.

The visual direction is a warm editorial workspace rather than a polished agency showcase. Serif headlines, compact mono labels, fine rules, and annotated browser frames create a consistent rhythm from overview to evidence. Every project artifact is drawn with HTML, CSS, and SVG, so the work remains crisp and editable without relying on client screenshots. A draggable before-and-after comparison, selectable wireframe views, reading progress, and restrained scroll reveals make the material easier to explore without turning the case study into a visual effects demo.

The default content follows a fictional product designer through healthcare and financial tools, with three distinct projects and clearly labeled illustrative outcomes. An alternate set of values shifts the same structure to climate and education products. The designer name, discipline, project set, location, email, and availability are variables; all related copy lives in one content file so names, narratives, research notes, and metrics can be changed together.

About and contact pages complete the portfolio with a fictional studio portrait, working principles, experience, capabilities, and a practical project-inquiry flow. The form prepares a project brief locally instead of sending data to a server. Replace the sample work with real projects, or use the included narrative framework to draft a first portfolio from scratch.

# UX Designer Case Study Portfolio

Build this website exactly as described below. Replace the [VARIABLES] with your own values; keep everything else.

## Brief
Build a four-entry static portfolio for [BRAND], an invented [DISCIPLINE] working on [PROJECT_SET]. The site comprises a project index, a query-driven long-form case-study page, an about page, and a contact page. Its signature is an editorial evidence board: crisp code-drawn product screens, research annotations, low-fidelity wireframes, and an accessible before/after comparison. Use the exact default project content below when PROJECT_SET is Healthcare and financial tools; otherwise rename and rewrite all projects, research, interface labels, and outcomes to fit the supplied project set while preserving the same structure.

- Audience: Independent UX and product designers, design job seekers, researchers, and small studios that need to explain process and decisions rather than show only finished visuals.
- Goal: Help a recruiter, hiring manager, or prospective client move from a quick project overview to credible process evidence and then to a focused project inquiry.
- Tone: Thoughtful, precise, warm, and evidence-led. Write in first person for the designer, use concrete observations and decisions, avoid agency superlatives, and identify every project and outcome as fictional sample content.

## Stack
- Framework: Vite 5 + React 18 + TypeScript
- Styling: Tailwind CSS 3.4
- Libraries: motion (MIT), lucide-react (ISC), @fontsource/instrument-serif (OFL), @fontsource-variable/inter (OFL), @fontsource/ibm-plex-mono (OFL)
- Build: `npm run build` → static files in `dist/`. No backend, no server code, no external APIs.
- Setup:
  - Configure Vite multi-page entries for index.html, case-study.html, about.html, and contact.html; set base: './' and build.sourcemap: false.
  - Put all variable values, navigation labels, project data, case-study prose, research notes, metrics, about copy, and form options in src/content.ts; rewrite every related content string when the variables change.
  - Create shared Header, Footer, Reveal, ProjectCard, BrowserMock, Wireframe, BeforeAfter, CaseNav, and ContactForm components; each HTML entry mounts its own React root.
  - Use Motion only for transform and opacity reveals; implement reading progress, wireframe selection, accordions, and the comparison slider with local React state and native events.
  - Import the self-hosted Fontsource packages in the shared entry CSS and define the listed palette, typography, spacing, and breakpoints in Tailwind.
  - On case-study.html read the project query parameter, render the matching project, and default to the first project when the parameter is absent or unrecognized.

## Variables
- [BRAND] — Designer name (default: "Mara Voss"). An invented designer name used as the portfolio identity.
- [DISCIPLINE] — Design discipline (default: "Product designer"). A short professional role such as Product designer or UX designer.
- [PROJECT_SET] — Case-study subject set (default: "Healthcare and financial tools"). The connected industries or topics covered by all three projects.
- [LOCATION] — Home base (default: "Portland, Oregon"). City and region shown in the profile and contact details.
- [CONTACT_EMAIL] — Contact email (default: "[email protected]"). Email address used by the contact links and prepared inquiry.
- [AVAILABILITY] — Availability note (default: "Booking one new engagement"). A short current availability statement.
- [CREDIT] — keep a small "Template by VibeFather" link to https://vibefather.ai/t/ux-designer-case-study-portfolio in the footer (default: yes; delete this line to remove it)

The copy under Pages & Sections is written for the default values. If your values differ, rewrite every headline, paragraph, label and image for them — same length, tone and structure. Layout, colors, type and motion stay as described.
Keep all copy, image paths and links in one content file (for example `src/content.ts`), keyed by section, so the content can be swapped later without touching components.

# UX Designer Case Study Portfolio — Design System

Apply this design system to an existing project. It describes the look and feel only; for the full site, use prompt.md.

## Colors
- **Paper** `#F3F0E8` — Primary page background
- **Surface** `#FCFBF7` — Cards, browser frames, and form surfaces
- **Ink** `#19221E` — Headings, body copy, and primary buttons
- **Moss** `#315B49` — Active states, links, and research annotations
- **Persimmon** `#D96849` — Sparse emphasis, outcome markers, and comparison handle
- **Muted** `#68736C` — Secondary copy and metadata
- **Rule** `#C9CEC3` — Borders, grid lines, and wireframe strokes

## Typography
- **Display and case-study headlines** — Instrument Serif (OFL), weights 400. Self-host the font files.
- **Body, navigation, controls, and interface mockups** — Inter Variable (OFL), weights 400/500/600. Self-host the font files.
- **Eyebrows, figure labels, project numbers, and metadata** — IBM Plex Mono (OFL), weights 400/500. Self-host the font files.

## Spacing & shape
- Spacing: Use a 4px base scale, 24px mobile gutters, 48px desktop gutters, a 1440px maximum canvas, and a 12-column desktop grid with 24px gaps. Section padding is 88px on mobile and 144px on desktop. Keep narrative prose to 680px and case-study figure captions to 520px.
- Radius: Use 2px for annotation tags, 8px for inputs and buttons, 16px for project cards, 24px for large browser mockups, and pill radii only for availability and status labels.

## Motion
- Reveal major headings and figures with a 24px upward translate and opacity transition over 500ms, staggered by 70ms, only when they first enter the viewport.
- Let the hero evidence board settle from a 2-degree rotation to zero while three annotation cards fade into fixed positions; keep all copy readable immediately.
- On project-card hover, move the code-drawn browser frame upward 6px, reveal the arrow icon, and shift the underlying accent rule without changing layout.
- Update the case-study reading bar from native scroll position and mark the current local-navigation anchor; no scroll hijacking or pinned narrative sections.
- Use a 160ms crossfade when switching wireframe tabs and a direct clipped reveal while dragging the comparison slider; disable nonessential transforms under prefers-reduced-motion.

## Imagery
Draw every project thumbnail, browser screen, flow, chart, annotation, and wireframe in HTML, CSS, and inline SVG using the site palette; do not use screenshots. Use one generated fictional studio portrait only on the About page. Keep interface mockups dense and credible with navigation, lists, charts, status chips, and form controls rather than empty rectangles. The hero visual anchor is a large layered evidence board, not typography alone.

## Tone
Thoughtful, precise, warm, and evidence-led. Write in first person for the designer, use concrete observations and decisions, avoid agency superlatives, and identify every project and outcome as fictional sample content.
